Mental Health Treatment Support
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a well-established, evidence-based psychotherapy designed to expedite healing for a variety of challenges linked to past traumatic events and current life circumstances. Suitable for individuals of all ages, EMDR is particularly effective in quickly alleviating symptoms associated with a range of mental health concerns.
SSPC specializes in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a proven alternative to traditional talk therapy, a natural approach to healing from trauma and fast relief from stress and anxiety caused by overexertion, challenging life events, building positive emotional resources, and simply feeling better. One of the advantages of EMDR is that clients do not have to share detailed accounts of their traumatic experiences. For many, it can produce faster results compared to other therapeutic methods. EMDR is effective for all types of trauma—whether recent or long-standing—and has been shown to help with anxiety, depression, panic disorders, chronic pain, phobias, addiction, and other emotional challenges.
In EMDR sessions, clients are guided to focus on specific aspects of distressing events. At the same time, the therapist employs bilateral or dual-attention stimulation techniques, such as guided eye movements or gentle tapping on the knees or hands. This approach helps process and integrate these memories into the nervous system, fostering a greater sense of control. Sharing details of the traumatic events is optional, and a client’s choice to do so does not significantly affect the therapy's effectiveness.
EMDR can reduce symptoms, decrease emotional distress associated with memories, enhance self-image, relieve physical discomfort, and resolve triggers. It has been proven effective for individuals of all ages, including children, adolescents, and adults.
There are many methods for administering bilateral stimulation. We often use a lightbar, a headset, and tactile pulsars that vibrate lightly in the hands. You can choose the method (or methods) that you like.
